What to Expect from Your Family Beach Photo Session

There's something truly special about a family photography session at the beach. The sound of the waves, the fresh ocean air, and the beautiful golden light create the perfect setting for genuine smiles and unforgettable memories. My goal is to make your session feel relaxed, fun, and natural so your family's personalities can shine.

Before Your Session

Before we meet, we'll talk about your family, choose the perfect beach location, and discuss what to wear. I encourage clothing in soft, neutral colors that complement the coastal scenery. Comfortable outfits that allow everyone to move freely are always the best choice.

Don't worry about making everything perfect. Children are naturally curious and playful, and that's exactly what makes beautiful photographs.

When You Arrive

We'll spend a few minutes getting to know one another before we begin. I never expect children to stand still or smile on command. Instead, I'll gently guide your family through simple activities that encourage natural interaction.

We'll walk along the shoreline, play in the sand, watch the waves, and capture the little moments that often become the most treasured photographs.

A Relaxed Experience

Your session isn't about stiff poses—it's about spending time together.

We'll capture:

  • Family portraits together

  • Individual photos of the children

  • Parents with each child

  • Siblings laughing and playing

  • Sweet candid moments

  • Beautiful sunset portraits

The best images often happen between poses, when you're simply enjoying each other.

If You Have Young Children

Parents often worry that their little ones won't cooperate. Please don't stress about it! Children may want to explore, collect seashells, splash in the water, or run through the sand—and that's perfectly okay.

Some of the most heartfelt photographs come from those genuine moments of curiosity, laughter, and adventure.

Golden Hour Magic

Most of my beach sessions take place during the last hour before sunset, often called Golden Hour. This soft, warm light creates beautiful skin tones, glowing skies, and a peaceful atmosphere that simply can't be recreated at any other time of day.

Making Memories

A family beach session is about much more than taking pictures. It's about slowing down, spending quality time together, and preserving this chapter of your family's story.

Years from now, these photographs will remind you not only of how everyone looked, but how it felt to be together.

I can't wait to help you create memories you'll treasure for generations. If you're ready to plan your family beach session along the beautiful Mendocino Coast, I'd love to hear from you!
